Description: For over 20 years, Assemblyman Richard Gottfried has introduced a single-payer bill—New York Health—to make healthcare a right for very New York resident. This year it passed the Assembly with an overwhelming majority. This workshop will present a sober analysis of the activism, resources and political contingencies that led to its passage and the challenges that lay ahead as the coalition girds to pass the bill in the state senate and get the governor to sign it into law.
